So, I don’t think there is anything that could have prepared me for the first 24 hours of our Kickstarter campaign. Surreal is the best word I can find! It is hard not to become a refresh button junkie, so am trying to keep very busy.
But a day later, we have got to 20% of our initial goal, so that is a really good start. Thank you so much to everyone who has contributed, it is great to think that people get what we are trying to do.
Straight away after we launched, I hot-footed it down to the London React Meetup @ Facebook’s new offices in London to talk about our work.
They were a super crowd and the Kickstarter video got a loud round of applause. I met some great people who can help us realise our ambition to get technology into the hands of all young people. Thanks to Stuart & Amy for the opportunity.
Earlier on in the day, we had been demoing 3D Printing, Oculus Rift & the new 3doodler to hundreds of young people at Hackney Community College’s ‘The Skills Show Experience’, where we shared a Gazebo with Sophie and the team from O2 Think Big.
There were huge queues all day long (as you can see from below), with some inspiring young people and some super keen teachers who were experiencing these new technologies for the first time. You can see some more photos from the event on our new Facebook page
And finally, we have our first bit of media coverage. Thanks to Tom at 3D Total who has put us on their homepage-
So a really good start, but much still to do (sounds a bit like my school reports). Thanks again for all your support and don’t forget to shout about #LonDIN in as many different ways as you can!
